Missing Handout Transponder:

Yellow 7 went missing on the 15th of December last year. We would really like it back please...

Section 1 of 5: Race Format

Race Format

Votes Reseived

Current Format: Best 2 out of 3 rounds to count.

Rewards consistent racing, less reward for 'one off' rope skipping. Similar to 3 legged finals at regionals

22

(Winner)

3 rounds of  Fastest Time Qualifying (FTQ)

Qualifying position determined by your fastest time. Racers can fail to finish in 2 races and still maintain a good qualifying position. Possibly less likelihood of faster drivers dropping down the field if they have a bad evening. Can Encourage BANZAI runs to the detriment of other drivers in the same heat. In the event of an oil spill, qualifying would revert to round by round.

8

2 rounds of qualifying  and 1 final

Qualifying and finals on a single night. No averaging, no second chance at your 'race'. Only a single 5 minute race in an evening. Allows for 1 off competition with guest racers. From experience, does encourage BANZAI.

Section 2 of 5: Race Start

Race Start Grid

Votes Received

Current Format: Three row grid start

High risk of a first corner crash.

8

Staggered Start

Car numbers are called out in turn. Very clean start, but this may compromise racing if used all night since each driver will be purely racing against the clock and not the other racers.

9

Full Grid Start

A grid slot for each car. The same format as normally used for finals. Possibly lower risk of a first corner crash than the existing three row grid.

20

(Winner)

Three row Grid as now, but with the first row at the first apex and the other two rows at the mid point and back of the straight respectively

More of an advantage to the first row. Possibly a greater reduction of risk of a first corner crash than the other two grid start options

Section 3 of 5: Race Start Order

Race Start Order

Current Format: Take it in turns to start from the front (or guaranteed to be in the first three if we run a full grid system)

Previous weeks racing only qualifies you for slot in a particular ranked heat. No further advantage gained from qualification position. Everybody gets an equal go at it on any particular night

22

(Winner)

Qualification position determines your start position in your heat for the whole evening

If you have earned a particular slot in a heat, then you do not loose that advantage. It could make grid starts cleaner because the faster drivers will always move away from the front. It will however make it more difficult for drivers at the back of the grid that are actually 'faster on the night' to have a fast run.

Nominated race caller for all heats

It may be difficult to ensure an appropriate individual is present for every heat. This will rely heavily on experienced drivers volunteering for this roll.

The last 10 minutes of practice time should be allocated to drivers of lower ability. (maybe heats 1,2 and 3)

Slower (less skilled) and faster drivers on the track at the same time can lead to unnecessary collisions and damage to the cars, leading to frustration on both sides of the fence.

No smoking outside open doors or windows

Smoke smells unpleasant to non-smokers. Smokers would be requested to move a ‘non-smoker friendly distance’ from hall entrances.

Yes 20

No 9

Punctual Starts

We always try to start on time, but maybe we can all work together to help get the meeting started quicker?

Yes 27

No 3

Ban reverse for all cars

Would prevent accidents from cars unexpectedly reversing into the path of oncoming traffic.

I would like the opportunity to elect a new committee to run the club for 2012

If a significant number of members want to see a change here then we will start proceedings to elect a formal committee. It cannot be guaranteed that any existing volunteer will step forward for election under these circumstances.

I would like the existing volunteers who currently run the club to continue to do so for 2012.

The existing volunteers are:

Alan Moon, Jon Peters, Dave Andrews, Jeff Fox, Ollie Tames and Dave Crew.

Handout Transponders

1. These are starting to go home on a regular basis again. Repeat offenders may be asked to get a Personal Transponder.

2. Damage. Handout Transponders must not be mounted near exposed spur gears or drive belts. It might look fine sitting there on your pit table but consider what happens when the transponder twists round or the body shell gets squashed in a crash etc. Please check your transponder mount position and if you are unsure about where best to mount your handout transponder, just ask.

PARKING AT THE HALL

A friendly reminder that the 2 parking spaces outside the entrance to the hall marked for disabled use. Please leave them free for those that need them. We are not the only people to use the hall on Wednesday evenings...
